After 180 starts, Chapp earned his first PGA Tour victory at the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.
“It’s a big relief,” Chapp said. “It’s been quite the monkey on my back all these years.”
Here’s how it all went down Sunday. With a one stroke lead heading into the final round, Chapp quickly set the pace with birdies on 2 and 3. Koepka put on the pressure throughout the day, tying it up as he headed into the clubhouse. But Chapp confidently approached the 72nd hole, sinking an 8 foot put for the win.
“I wouldn’t want it any other way,” said Chapp. “Brooks kept me honest out there today. He made me do it the right way. There wasn’t any question I was going to make 4 and win the golf tournament.”
Chapp claimed the win at 12 under for the tournament and as the celebration shows, the victory was a long time coming!
